There are up to 16 C-Band and up to 9 ku-band satellites that can be picked up on the east coast of Australia.
Here is a list of C-Band satellites that can be picked up, to see what channels are available just click on the satellite name: Intelsat 701, Intelsat2, Intelsat8, JCSAT 2A, Measat 2, Telstar 18, Apstar 6, AsiaSat 4, Chinasat 6B, Palapa C2, AsiaSat 3S, AsiaSat2, Measat3, Insat 2E, Thaicom5, Telstar 10. The last 4 satellites are very low on the west horizon and can only be picked up if you have a clean, unobstructed view to the west.
Here is a list of Ku-Band satellites that can be picked up, to see what channels are available just click on the satellite name: Intelsat 701, Intelsat2, Intelsat8, Optus D1, Optus C1, Optus D2, Measat 2, AsiaSat 4, NSS 6. NSS 6 is also fairly low on the west horizon so you do need to have a fairly clean, unobstructed view to the west.
To be able to tell the difference between Ku-Band and C-Band frequencies here is a little hint. On each of the above satellites you will notice that there are some satellites that are in both C-Band & Ku-Band lists. Channels that are on frequencies starting from 3400 to 4200 are C-Band frequencies & frequencies starting from 11700 to 12750 are Ku-Band frequencies. So any channel that is on a frequency between 3400 & 4200 is on a C-Band system & any channel that is on a frequency between 11700 & 12750 is on a Ku-Band system.
Now that you know what satellites you can pick up, you can see what channels you can watch. Click on the link below for the Lyngsat website and you can browse through. Channels that are highlighted yellow are free to air and the ones that are highlighted red are pay channels. Not all channels on the satellites are viewable due to low signal strength or beam, so if you have a particular channel that you want to watch contact us about it and we will be able to tell you if it can be picked up. Channel availability is subject to change and is beyond the control of IMC.
